Füssen: The electricity price remains stable

Füssen / Reutte - Despite the rapid rise in electricity and gas prices in Europe in recent months, the Reutte electricity works (EWR) will keep energy prices stable at the turn of the year. Since taxes and duties in the electricity sector will decrease on January 1, 2022, EEA customers can even look forward to a lower total electricity price.

EEA board member Dr.

Christoph Hilz announced to the press on Wednesday.

With a view to the rapid price development in recent months, he also made it clear that this would only apply to the first half of 2022.

"You can't say anything for the rest of the year."

Increased demand for gas on the world market as well as low-filling gas storage facilities in Europe are currently leading to extraordinarily high prices on the gas market. This also has an impact on the electricity price. Political decisions on climate protection, such as greenhouse gas reduction, are also causing electricity prices on the exchange to climb further, informed Hilz. The result: "The energy price increase on the market is dramatic." Compared to the beginning of the year, the price per megawatt hour has tripled. “That has never happened before,” says Hilz.

However, since the EEA pursues a long-term electricity procurement strategy, they can avert price increases for their customers for the time being. Since, among other things, the EEG surcharge will drop from 6.5 to 3.7 cents per kilowatt hour at the beginning of 2022, EEA customers can even look forward to a lower total electricity price. For an average private household (3000 kilowatt hours per year), this can mean savings of around 83 euros (gross) for 2022.

The universal service tariff is an exception.

Since the company expects the insolvencies of other energy providers to increase and, as a local supplier, has to supply the affected customers with electricity, this increases by 1.8 cents per kilowatt hour (gross).

Due to the lower taxes and duties, customers would still benefit from savings of around 30 euros per year (3000 kilowatt hours per year, gross) with this tariff.

"That is very, very good news in times when the price of electricity is so high," said Hilz.

In addition, his company continues to offer customers fixed tariffs in order to protect themselves against rising electricity prices in the coming years.
