District - The current economic survey by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for Munich and Upper Bavaria comes to the conclusion that the economy in the Oberland is confident.

Decreasing corona restrictions have noticeably improved the mood in the Oberland's economy.

This is the result of the current economic survey by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for Munich and Upper Bavaria.

The IHK economic index for the districts of Weilheim-Schongau, Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen, Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Miesbach climbed from 105 to 126 points compared to spring 2021 and thus reached the pre-Corona level.

The business situation of the companies has jumped from 7 to 36 points on balance compared to the spring.

47 percent of the companies surveyed rate their situation as good, 11 percent as bad - that is significantly less than in the spring, reports the IHK.

For the most part, this is likely to be due to the corona easing.

Business could be even better, but for 63 percent of companies these are being slowed down by the sharp increases in the price of goods and raw materials.

55 percent of companies also complain of a shortage of materials.

On balance, companies' expectations climb from 3 to 17 points. Around every third expect business to pick up, less than every fifth expect business to deteriorate. “Our company is again worried about the worsening shortage of skilled workers, and the developments in energy and raw material prices are also causing them problems,” explains Klaus Bauer, chairman of the IHK regional committee in Weilheim-Schongau.

“Our domestic economy wants to leave the Corona Valley behind and is looking ahead.

The results of our economic survey, especially with regard to business expectations and employment plans, are clear evidence of this, ”says Bauer.

"Politicians must now support the will to take off with market-based and tax incentives." This requires a stable government capable of acting as quickly as possible that creates reliable framework conditions.
