The Poing local council has passed a resolution to the district. The resolution contains five demands for the rapid realization of the high school in Poing.

The Poing local council has passed a resolution to the district.

The resolution contains five demands for the rapid realization of the high school in Poing.

Poing - In its public session on Thursday evening, the Poing municipal council unanimously passed a resolution addressed to the Ebersberg district or the district council. Five demands are listed under the heading “Resolution for the Realization of the Gymnasium in Poing”. Here is the wording:

1. The start of planning for the building project as early as the beginning of 2022.

2. The provision of budget funds for the construction from 2023. Due to the current development of building prices, any further delay would lead to additional costs of three to five percent annually.

3. The examination and planning of precursor classes. In this context, the municipality of Poing holds out the prospect of examining suitable land areas close to the location for an interim solution, if necessary.

4. A clear transparency and detailed explanation of the requirements for high school places, especially for the Poing school location.

5. A regular exchange of information with the municipality on the planning status.

At the end of the resolution it is written: "The local council urgently asks the district council to consistently push ahead with the realization of the Poingen grammar school."

Poing: Unanimous opinion in the local council

As reported, the majority of the district council decided in its October meeting to keep the project on the waiting list - for financial reasons.

District Administrator Robert Niedergesäß (CSU) estimates the construction costs at around 100 million euros.

After deducting the state subsidies, the district, as the material cost agency, has to pay the rest.

However, the resolution stipulated that up to 1.35 million euros will be made available in the district's budget for 2022 for the major project, including for preliminary planning.

Expert opinion: The number of pupils in Poing will continue to rise

Based on the population development and forecast for the next few years, the Bavarian Ministry of Culture approved the establishment of a new state high school in Poing in a letter dated June 27, 2018.

The task of implementation lies with the district or district council - so far, however, nothing has happened.

According to a report by the Munich Office for Spatial Development, between 350 and 450 high school-age students will also live in Poing by 2035, which will increase the total number of this age group to around 2000.

Online petition with 1,800 signatures

Almost four weeks ago, Andrea Lacour, Veronika Neu and Martina Pillath founded the interest group Gymnasium Poing NOW and started an online petition for the school to be built quickly.

The petition has so far counted a good 1,800 signatures.

At the beginning of the council meeting, Veronika Neu thanked the council for its support during the citizens' questionnaire.

Mayor Thomas Stark (independent) accepted the thanks and gave it back to the initiators.

He promised that the administration and the local council would continue to work on the issue and he said that he supported the idea of precursor classes.

However, Stark pointed out that the community generally has no right of co-determination in matters of high school - the responsibility lies with the district.

Surrounding high schools overcrowded

Spokesmen for all municipal council groups confirmed in the meeting on Thursday evening how important the rapid construction of the high school is. The demand figures would prove this. Mayor Stark reported on a query that the Poingen administration recently made in the surrounding high schools. According to Stark's information, 1,347 students are currently attending the Franz-Marc-Gymnasium in Markt Schwaben, which is actually designed for only 1,250; the Humboldt-Gymnasium in Vaterstetten is currently occupied with 1574 students, it is geared to 1110.

In the opinion of 3rd Mayor Werner Dankesreiter (Greens) there is another reason to realize the high school now: “Despite financial problems, the district should take the money in hand and run into debt, because you can currently owe zero percent interest . "
