Workers quit their jobs at a record rate for the second month in a row during September, while companies and other employers posted a

near-record number of available jobs.

The Labor Department reported this Friday that 4.4 million people quit their jobs in September, which is equivalent to about 3% of the workforce in the United States and represents a record higher than the 4.3 million registered in August. .

There are also 10.4 million job offers on the market, down from 10.6 million in August, but there are still 7.4 million people out of work, according to October statistics.

These figures point to a historic level of movement in the labor market, in which newly trained workers leave their jobs to accept the higher wages offered by employers, increasingly desperate and in need of help.
