Herrsching - Christian-Morgenstern elementary and middle school organized a fundraising run for the benefit of the partnership project between the community of Herrsching and Chatra / India, initiated by the Verein Indienhilfe Herrsching, before the autumn break.

The students raised a total of 13,300 euros and generated donations from their sponsors for the German / Indian municipal drinking water project ('Your water is coming'). The drinking water treatment plant currently under construction is a Nakopa project (sustainable community partnership) and is intended to supply a particularly poor district of Chatra, which is inhabited by fishermen, with clean and arsenic-free drinking water from next year.

Mayor Christian Schiller recently thanked the runners personally for their commitment and on this occasion the new flag was also hoisted, which distinguishes the Herrsching elementary school as an environmental school in Europe. The primary school classes gathered at the maypole in the schoolyard area and looked forward to the words of praise that were spoken to them. Rector Katharina Casper said “A great achievement, I am proud of you that you ran with so much dedication.” And Mayor Christian Schiller added: “Such an excellent achievement. 13,300 euros for the drinking water project for our partner community. I am proud to have such great children in Herrsching. "In addition, India Aid Herrsching thanks" We thank the students and teachers, for their great commitment and the sponsors for their generous donation ”, says Marta Stummbaum.

The new flag “Environmental School for Europe” was hoisted with great cheers by Klaus Trunte, caretaker of the elementary and middle school. "We have been able to bear this title for 10 years now," said Rector Catharina Casper. Every year various projects on the subject of "the environment" are developed. In 2020, the environmental school dealt with the topics "child labor" and "the beaver and its habitat", despite the difficult length (corona-related). The habitat of the beaver in Herrsching was shown and explained to the children in small groups.

In 2021, other topics were worked out, such as a "World Protection Week".

It was about avoiding waste.

The third grades were very active here and were able to go on a voyage of discovery together with the AWISTA.

In this way we will be able to maintain the title of “Environmental School for Europe” again in 2022.

In addition, a further 1,252 euros could be donated to India Aid.

On October 29th, a toy flea market was held in Christian-Morgenstern elementary and middle school.

“You are helping children from very poor villages.

They are supported in learning and protected from child labor.

Thank you for your help! ”With these words, India Aid thanked them on a poster that was given to the students.
