Soon there will be a speed limit of 30 in all residential streets in Jesenwang

The whole of Jesenwang becomes Zone 30. The municipal council has now decided. The only exceptions are the regional roads - i.e. the state and district roads - as well as the industrial area on Oasogrund and the western part of Römerstraße, where the road traffic regulations do not allow zone 30.

The whole of Jesenwang becomes Zone 30. The municipal council has now decided.

The only exceptions are the regional roads - i.e. the state and district roads - as well as the industrial area on Oasogrund and the western part of Römerstraße, where the road traffic regulations do not allow zone 30.

Jesenwang - The trigger for the proposal was the desire of the residents to introduce Tempo 30 in Erlbachstrasse.

"For Tempo 30, the requirements are much higher than for Zone 30," said Mayor Erwin Fraunhofer (CSU / BG) in the council meeting.

He therefore had a much more far-reaching proposal drawn up: Zone 30 in all residential streets.

The place is divided into four zones - divided from the state road in east-west direction and from the district road in north-south direction.

So far there has only been a zone 30 in two areas, namely in the area around Wangerweg in the northeast of Jesenwang and in the western Poststrasse in the south of the village.

"So it made sense that we should continue to run Zone 30 in the area of the eastern Poststrasse," said Fraunhofer.

A new building area is currently being built there, and the road has been expanded.

The opening should take place soon - then with the Zone 30 signs.

Right before left

Because right before left applies everywhere in Tempo 30 zones, there were initially concerns about the suggestion of the town hall chief.

"Right before left also harbors a potential risk, we have to be aware of that," said Markus Schellmann (CSU / BG).

Some places are difficult to see.

In addition, this regulation is used more often to brake and start again, which causes additional noise, especially in the case of heavy agricultural vehicles.

Johann Wimmer (unity) opposed that the problematic areas would automatically be defused by the slower driving speed.

"At 30 kilometers an hour you have enough time to see in good time whether someone is coming from the right." Wimmer said: "I think the suggestion is good."

Fraunhofer relies on the habitual effect: If at some point everyone knew that all of Jesenwang is a zone 30, drivers would be careful.

Brigitte Walch (unity) advised to follow the suggestion.

"We have many new building areas in which families with children live." Zone 30 would bring more security for them.

The Roman Road

As the only local road, the Roman road proves to be problematic. In the eastern area, due to the local school, the speed limit is 30. In the east, however, the street is only built on one side, so that the law does not allow zone 30 there. There, the council members now want to reduce the speed through structural measures such as a traffic island. According to Fraunhofer, the municipality bought the reason for this at an earlier point in time as a precaution.

The designation of the 30 zone will not be cheap.

The eastern Poststrasse is already included in the budget as part of the expansion there.

For the area north of the state road, where Erlbachstraße is also located, community worker Josef Hörhager (unity) estimates the costs at up to 10,000 euros.

In the end, this is worth the plus in security for the entire municipal council.

The signage is to be implemented in 2022.
