A Latina teacher at a Georgia elementary school was found dead this Tuesday in the Mexican state of Jalisco, after being reported missing just a week ago.

Alexandra Morales, 24, was a first grade teacher at Benefield Elementary School in Lawrenceville, Georgia.

She traveled to Mexico for a few days and was last seen on October 30 when she was attending a concert.

The main suspect in her death is her boyfriend, identified as Fidel Barragán, who was arrested in Guadalajara.

The Jalisco State Prosecutor's Office said that "sufficient data had been collected" involving Barragán, who was charged with the crime of aggravated disappearance.

In an interview with the Atlanta affiliate station Noticias Telemundo, the young woman's uncle, Ostín Cuenca, claimed that Barragán's arrest was "just the beginning" of this case, given that, in his opinion, the man's entire family could be involved.

"She was the first teacher with whom [my daughter] identified herself personally, and the first teacher of whom she said: 'I want to be Mrs. Morales."
