High infection numbers, low vaccination rate, many deaths - the focus on the Corona balance of the Free State of Bavaria.

High infection numbers, low vaccination rate, many deaths - the focus on the Corona balance of the Free State of Bavaria.

Munich - There is no shortage of eloquent comparisons on this day either.

No sooner has the future traffic light coalition presented its plans for the Corona * winter in Berlin than Markus Söder, from a distance, declares the ideas to be inadequate.

After all, with snow and ice you can't pretend it's warm and sunny.

"The previous offer is more of a summer tire set than a winter package."

That sounds like Bavaria is particularly well prepared for the hardships of winter.

In fact, a lot has slipped recently, especially in the Free State.

Nowhere are the numbers more threatening, since yesterday the nationwide disaster has been in effect again.

Corona in Bavaria: Twice as many new infections as in NRW

The Robert Koch Institute * reported 13,456 new infections in Bavaria, more than twice as many as in the most populous state of North Rhine-Westphalia (around 18 million inhabitants).

In Bavaria (around 13 million) the seven-day incidence * was 427.4 yesterday.

The Free State is in third place nationwide behind Saxony (521.9) and Thuringia (469.2).

Nine of the ten largest corona hotspots are here, above all the Lower Bavarian district of Rottal-Inn with the maximum value of 1140.4 cases in the last seven days.

Bavaria also does not shine when it comes to the vaccination quota.

A total of 67.3 percent received their full vaccination protection in the Federal Republic of Germany.

In the Free State there are only 65.3.

With 67 percent, Bavaria also lags behind the nationwide rate (69.9) when it comes to first vaccinations.

It is in last place among the western federal states.

In Germany, only Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Brandenburg and Thuringia do worse.

Corona misery: low vaccination rate in Bavaria

Bavaria is also lagging behind when it comes to the vaccination rate for people over 60.

Here 84.6 percent are vaccinated at least once.

In Bremen it is ten percent more.

Nationwide, the Free State ranks fifth from last.

The low vaccination rate among people over 60 has fatal consequences.

A look at the hospitalization rate shows this.

Nationwide, the seven-day value is 4.65.

In Bavaria, however, the hospitalization incidence is 7.21 - which makes the Free State the front runner among the old federal states.

Across Germany, only Thuringia (16.4) has an even higher value.

A total of 16,434 people died of or with Corona * in Bavaria.

There are currently more than three times as many new deaths as in North Rhine-Westphalia, for example.

Bavaria's Corona balance sheet: "Shameful"

Söder blames the low vaccination rates in the particularly affected regions for the bad numbers: “It is not the fault of the states.” The opposition does not want to accept this explanation so easily.

"Shameful" calls the parliamentary group leader of the Landtag Greens, Katharina Schulze, the Bavarian corona balance.

Once again, the government failed to take urgently needed measures.

In addition to the back and forth about 2G for children, it is particularly aimed at the vaccination quota.

All citizens from the age of twelve would have to be informed personally about the importance of immunization: "By post, email or via the Corona warning app - a massive and targeted vaccination campaign."

Martin Hagen's criticism is not much more gracious.

“Söder should stop pointing his finger at the traffic lights in Berlin and rather do his homework on site,” appeals the FDP * parliamentary group chairman.

The abolition of free tests was a mistake, and "the booster vaccination campaign is rolling too late".
