Preserving Syria's antiquities and enhancing its values ​​among children was the focus of the event, which was held at the Culture Palace, Anbar office in Damascus, over a weekly period, with the participation of 25 boys and girls from various schools in Damascus and its countryside.

The event, which he organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and the Governorate of Damascus, included a workshop supervised by the plastic artist Wissam Al-Haddad, by giving historical lessons about some of the monuments of Palmyra.

Concerning the event, artist Wissam Al-Haddad said in a statement to SANA reporter that the Childhood and Antiquities event is one of the activities organized by the National Project for Syria’s Buds, which began two years ago in Khan Asaad Pasha, with the aim of educating schoolchildren.

Al-Haddad referred to the role of the Ministry of Education in selecting children from different classes to participate in the event, and to the cooperation of the Damascus Governorate by hosting the event in one of the ancient capitals.

Regarding his participation in the workshop, the sixth-grade student, Qusay, mentioned that he is working on forming statues of clay to restore the history of our country, and expressed his love for Syrian antiquities or the need not to forget our monuments by visiting them permanently.

As for the student, Ghina, she mentioned that she is performing the formation of a tambourine statue that is 3000 thousand years old, expressing her pride in the monuments of our country.

The student, Muhammad al-Rijal, from the sixth grade, formed the statue with persistence and perseverance, because we must preserve the monuments by sculpting and painting and in any way possible.

It is worth mentioning that an art exhibition will be held on the 23rd of this month for the children's works executed during the workshop.

The plastic artist, Wissam Al-Haddad, was born in the city of Homs. She is a graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Sculpture, and has several international and local participations.
