United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has warned of an upcoming famine that may affect 45 million people, calling on the countries of the world to possess the political will to confront this crisis.
Guterres said in a tweet on Twitter today that "45 million people are now on the brink of famine," adding that "in the past few months alone, there are 3 million new people on the brink of starvation."
Guterres had warned months ago that poverty, income inequality and rising food costs were putting healthy diets out of the reach of nearly 3 billion people around the world.
