A clean-up campaign in the Armenian neighborhood of Homs

Today, the Directorate of Environment in Homs carried out a clean-up campaign in the southern Armenian neighborhood, the public park and the surrounding streets, at the conclusion of the activities of the Environmental Week, which it organized to celebrate the National Environment Day.

Engineer Talal Al-Ali, director of the environment, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the week, which was implemented by the Directorate in cooperation with the Homs City Council, the Directorates of Agriculture and Education, Al-Baath University, and environmental associations in the province, resulted in cleaning campaigns in the city and countryside for main roads, public squares and parks, in addition to campaigns for afforestation, planting roses, cypress planting and forestry, and holding meetings. Awareness raising with people in neighborhoods and villages to urge them to take care of their environment and preserve it by preventing encroachments, fires and firewood.

In turn, Engineer Imad Al-Saleh, Director of Hygiene in Homs City Council, drew attention to the participation of all those concerned with environmental affairs in the environmental week, especially the people, which emerged clearly and reflects the extent of the sense of self-voluntary work among citizens to reach a clean environment free of all forms of pollution.

The Head of the Environmental Awareness Department in the Environment Directorate, Eng. Hanan Nafouj, indicated that the week was not limited to hygiene and afforestation campaigns, but that many meetings were carried out with school students in the first episode to instill values, habits and health and environmental concepts that they should follow, as children play an important role in protecting the environment.
