In an open fire letter on the current Corona situation in Germany, leading medical professionals address politics.
They find clear words and make urgent demands.

The events in the individual federal states are overturning - 2G regulations, the declaration of a disaster and the transfer of patients - everything is tried to get the fourth wave under control.
What politics is currently doing is not enough, however.
In an open letter, 35 top German physicians, led by the Cologne internist Prof. Dr.
Michael Hallek and the Braunschweig virologist Prof. Dr.
Melanie Brinkmann to those responsible.
So they write: “Every day of waiting costs human lives.
Time for a call. "
Corona fire letter: Fourth wave can "overshadow" everything
In clear words, the doctors describe the urgency of the current situation: "The current pandemic situation has the potential to overshadow the situation from spring and past waves." In the dramatic letter, published by the
Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger
and the
editorial network Germany (RND),
the participating scientists express their displeasure and disappointment with the slow action of the Federal Government: "We feel deeply disappointed about the threat to social cohesion and the repeated negligent handling of people's wellbeing, who depend on the protection of the state. "
Many of the recommendations they proposed were implemented only hesitantly or not at all.
Instead, politics would shift responsibility to private individuals - to the "discretion of each individual".
Corona in Germany: Demand for professional communication and global responsibility
Hallek, Brinkmann and Co. are now appealing with the letter to those responsible in the federal, state and local governments.
Above all, they demand effective communication that “expects the citizens to be unpleasant and provides clear and consistent guidelines for behavior”.
At the same time, Germany should become aware of its European and global role in fighting pandemics and help reduce global vaccination inequalities.
