On Friday morning the value was still 263.8.
The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reports 45,081 new corona cases within one day.
Many of the hotspots with particularly high numbers of infections are in Bavaria and Saxony.
The district of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains, south of Dresden, reported 2,805 new infections, which means an incidence of 1,146.2.
Just behind it is the Lower Bavarian district of Rottal-Inn with an incidence of 1122.3.
Corona in Germany: increasing numbers require tougher measures
According to the RKI (3:11 a.m.), 228 deaths in connection with the corona virus were reported across Germany.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the RKI has recorded a total of 4,987,971 infections in Germany.
Some federal states such as Saxony and Berlin are now consistently relying on a "2G" regulation.
The measures are also being tightened in other European countries, in the Netherlands.
A partial lockdown, with curfew, should provide more control here.
