Update from November 13, 2:02 p.m.:
Chancellor Angela Merkel, who is still Chancellor, addresses people in her video podcast and appeals for vaccinations: "I ask you: join in and try to convince relatives and friends too." With a view to the tense situation in the hospitals and the federal / state meeting next Tuesday, she calls for an agreement on a new threshold.
This should relate to the hospitalization rate.
Merkel says that a value is needed “from which additional steps to contain the pandemic can be applied in a binding manner in addition to the measures that have been in force until now, in accordance with the regional infection values”.
The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gives the seven-day incidence of hospitalizations, i.e. how many people per 100,000 inhabitants were admitted to hospital because of a corona infection, with a value of 4.7 on Friday yesterday.
Update from November 13th, 9.45 a.m.:
The President of the German Interdisciplinary Association for Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine (Divi) Gernot Marx addresses politics.
In an interview with the
Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung
, he demands: "We need clear communication of the decisions and an end to the permanent arguments, so that what has been decided can be implemented and adhered to".
In addition, Marx sees the booster vaccination as a crucial and "most effective" tool to break the current fourth wave.
One thing is particularly important: speed.
“The vaccination campaign must be accelerated at full throttle, with everything that is possible!”, Says Marx.
That is why he thinks it makes sense to carry out the booster vaccination after five months, instead of the previous six months after the second injection.
Experience from Israel had shown that this was an effective measure.

According to the RKI (3:11 a.m.), 228 deaths in connection with the corona virus were reported across Germany.

Some federal states such as Saxony and Berlin are now consistently relying on a "2G" regulation.
The measures are also being tightened in other European countries, in the Netherlands.
