Türkenfeld -

Daniel Groß from the engineering office Steinbacher Consult presented the results of the investigation to the local council. According to him, there is no danger to the place during five, ten and twenty year floods. The situation is different with a hundred-year event and the so-called HQextrem, for which 1.5 times the amount of water of a hundred-year flood is assumed.

According to the engineering office, an overarching flood protection concept is not necessary. Instead, individual endangered areas should be targeted. Particularly problematic are the too small outflow of the village pond and the Saliterstraße / Schmittenberg area. Protective measures must therefore be taken for the planned new building area Saliterstraße Nord, which is to be built here. It is possible to create retention areas.

The new findings are also to be incorporated into the further planning of the Dorfanger building area. The municipality wants to make the report with all possible flood plains accessible to the citizens on its homepage. "We have a responsibility to inform the residents affected," said Mayor Emanuel Staffler (CSU). However, the municipality is "neither morally nor factually obliged" to undertake structural actions that turn all potentially endangered areas into unaffected areas. "Many of the properties do not belong to us."

However, the village pond is the responsibility of the community.

"This is a construction site that has to be tackled," emphasized Groß.

This particularly concerns the Weiherdamm, the stability of which must be examined.

This homework was given to the municipality by the water management office - as a prerequisite for the approval of the upgrading of Weiherstrasse planned in the course of the village development.

The outlet from the pond is too small.

The calculations of the flood report show that the dam would be flooded in the event of a hundred-year flood.

Then there is also the risk that it could erode and break.

According to Staffler, the dam is said to have been built between 1890 and 1910.

So it is much older than the DIN standard that applies today and to which it does not comply.

Rupert Klaß (CSU) noted that the dam allegedly broke in 1946 and that it was then rebuilt.

But there was no evidence of this in old documents, Staffler waved off.

With a unanimous decision, the municipal council agreed to a more detailed examination of the Weiherdamm dam.

In addition, options for flood protection measures are to be worked out and government funding opportunities to be clarified.

It is possible that this will result in postponements in the further expansion of Bahnhofstrasse.
