In neighboring countries, the corona numbers are skyrocketing - also in Austria.

Berlin - Corona incidences in Austria are increasing inexorably.

Germany now wants to put Austria on the list of high-risk areas this Friday.

However, individual Austrian communities - such as Mittelberg, Jungholz, Rissal, Vomp and Eben am Achensee - should be excluded, as reports from the newspapers of the Funke media group.

The classification should therefore come into force on Sunday.

RKI boss Lothar Wieler and Federal Health Minister Spahn confirmed on Friday morning that Austria will be declared a high incidence area.

In addition to Austria, the Czech Republic and Hungary are also to be declared high-risk areas.

Experience has shown that the list of corona risk areas will be updated on Friday.

Areas with a particularly high risk of infection due to particularly high incidences for the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus”

are classified as

high-incidence areas

according to the RKI.

The speed of spread, the situation in the hospitals or a lack of corona data on the corona situation are criteria in addition to the high number of cases.

In Austria, the corona numbers are developing dramatically.

The Alpine republic is planning a lockdown for unvaccinated people by Christmas.

The 7-day incidence is 760.6, according to data from AGES (as of November 11).

For comparison: Germany has a value of 263.7 (as of November 12).

Austria high incidence area - what does that mean?

Anyone who has not been fully vaccinated or has recovered and is traveling from a high-risk area has to be in quarantine for ten days and can only get rid of it after five days with a negative test.

There is no quarantine requirement for vaccinated and convalescent people.

Before entering the country, a digital entry registration is required, and the vaccination or health certificate must be uploaded.

Until now, a 3G certificate was sufficient for entering Germany from Austria.

Current RKI list of high risk areas

So far only the EU countries Slovakia, Lithuania, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia and Slovenia are on the list of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI).

That can change this Friday.

Austria was removed from the list of high-risk areas five months ago - in June.
