Fischbachau - Surprising decision in FIschbachau: Johannes Lohwasser has resigned as mayor.

Now there is a new election.

The community of Fischbachau needs a new mayor.

Johannes Lohwasser resigned from his position on the weekend (November 6th and 7th).

Because deputy Hans Seemüller is out on a long-term basis, third mayor Willi Rothemund is now in charge of the business.

2022 will then be re-elected.

Rothemund already chaired the meeting of the local council on November 5th.

However, nothing was known about Lohwasser's resignation.

He prevailed against two fellow campaigners in the 2020 local elections.

At the weekend he then sent the corresponding e-mail and surprised the employees in the town hall as well as the citizens of Fischbachau.

Surprise in the administration

"We didn't know anything and didn't expect anything at all," says the community manager Johann Neundlinger.

On Friday he discussed future projects with Lohwasser.

He also knew of no cause or incident that could have led to the resignation.

“You have to accept what it is like,” he says.

Lohwasser, who was immediately elected to office in the 2020 local elections, only made a brief statement: "After serving as First Mayor of Fischbachau for a year and a half, I unfortunately had to find out that there is a professional level of work with many participants from the local council and the Administration is not possible. "

Lots of projects that were on the way

Lohwasser does not get concrete, writes that he does not want to be responsible for "years of mistakes and decisions before my term of office".

"The sum and permanence of these facts make future cooperation with the structures mentioned impossible for me and sometimes go against everything I believe in deeply."

These sentences also surprised Neundlinger: "We worked together well and trustingly." Lohwasser's predecessor Josef Lechner, who may feel addressed, refers to the good work and many unanimous decisions in the municipal council as well as the many projects that were and are on the way stalled.

Business continues in the town hall

Lechner does not hold a grudge, however, but rather sees Lohwasser's words as an attempt at justification.

Lechner values him as an “intelligent, decent person” and believes that he took office with completely wrong ideas.

Lohwasser did not withstand the permanent pressure with many far-reaching decisions that weighed on a mayor.

"I'm sorry for him," says Lechner.

Such failure is tragic, especially at the beginning of professional life.

For Fischbachau it is now important that the parliamentary groups work harmoniously with the administration instead of thinking about the election campaign.

"Now everyone has to move together," Lechner hopes.

Business continues in the town hall.

“We have our tasks, we fulfill them,” says Neundlinger.
