After the state elections at the end of September, it is now a done deal: The red-red state government will soon start in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
Schwerin - A little less than two months have passed since the state elections in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania *, and the red-red state government in Schwerin can already start.

After state elections in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: coalition agreement between the SPD and the Left is in place
While the traffic light coalition is still negotiating at the federal level, Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig, SPD parliamentary group leader Thomas Krüger, left parliamentary group leader Simone Oldenburg and her co-party leader Wenke Brüdgam were able to sign the 77-page coalition agreement on Saturday afternoon.
"We are looking forward to being able to get started with the departure in 2030," said Schwesig.
Oldenburg once again highlighted the great similarities between the two parties.
This is "a common departure for our Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania." At the beginning of next week Schwesig is to be re-elected as Prime Minister in the state parliament and then her cabinet will be sworn in.
Coalition between the SPD and the Left in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Schwesig is satisfied
In her 45-minute speech in Wismar, Schwesig had asked for approval for the contract.
She emphasized the triad of a strong economy with good wages, social justice and ecological responsibility, which should be the focus of the new five-year legislative period.
The SPD politician also expresses her joy at the successful coalition negotiations on Twitter.
This is going to be good!

Schwesig said she was aware of her great responsibility and accepted the election result with humility.
No other party has such future competence as the SPD, she stressed.
One of the priorities in the coming years should be the participation of young people.
"The future begins now," said the Prime Minister.
State election in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Red-red government wants to lower voting age to 16 years
According to Schwesig, one of the main concerns of the new government is to lower the voting age to 16 years. There are also plans to introduce an additional public holiday on March 8th, International Women's Day. Both parties are planning improvements in daycare centers, after-school care centers and schools. They want to make agriculture more environmentally friendly - the organically
farmed agricultural area should grow by a third by 2026. The Coronoa pandemic * received much less attention at Schwesig than it is the case for Chancellor Angela Merkel in current politics *.
"The left is capable of governing, and the left is also willing to govern," said the parliamentary group leader of the left in the Bundestag,
Dietmar Bartsch, in Güstrow as well.
"It is an opportunity for us." Above all, it is an opportunity for the country.
Oldenburg demanded that the coalition agreement be filled with life.
"We mustn't screw up this historic opportunity."
