Because the building authority has a large number of projects to deal with, the city council should decide what is to be tackled immediately and what to put on the back burner.

Schongau -

Four tightly written A3 pages encompass the projects that have built up in the city of Schongau, both in the investment area - for example building projects - and in the non-investment tasks such as the preparation of statutes or redevelopment areas. According to a point system, you want to filter out the most important projects, each city council can distribute five points. The result then flows into the budget preparations, which are currently being carried out behind closed doors.

The city council will then officially decide in its session on November 23 which of the projects will be prioritized.

This is necessary in order to be able to use both money and personnel correctly and to move forward.

"A lot is happening, but everything is slowing down," said city architect Sebastian Dietrich in the most recent meeting, making the current dilemma clear.

These projects in Schongau are being tackled

Assumed that the college level building at the school center for the middle school (total investment costs 241,000 euros), the partial new construction of the elementary school (remaining amount 525,000 euros of a total of 19.8 million euros), the expansion of the Kindergarten rainbow (1.83 million euros) and three measures in the splash including slide (total investment costs 1.65 million euros).

Only residual costs remain for the almost completed renovation of the fire station (total costs 2.67 million euros).

There are also three crosses behind projects around the city wall (a total of 887,000 euros).

The renovation of the city wall in various sections (costs around 1 million euros) is not yet part of a funding measure.

Funding period for middle school extended

For the middle school, which should appear on the priority list in any case, Dietrich had "very fresh" news: the funding period was extended by two years to the year 2025.

“There is a lot of leeway.” However, due to the increases in the construction sector, one also expects a decent increase in costs.

There are 1.82 million euros for the roof plus renovation of the building for 16.75 million euros.

An interim solution with containers would cost around 2.5 million euros.

The roof renovation could definitely be tackled in 2022, but if you renovate the entire building right away, this would save costs, Dietrich gave the city councilors as a decision-making aid.

There are also two funding commitments for the urban apartments in Im Tal 8 to 12. For the general renovation, 1.53 million euros are set, for the new construction of the homeless shelter on the same site 1.4 million euros.

"Decisions of great importance"

So far there are no concrete plans for the budget year 2022 in the field of culture and education, not even for the facade renovation of the city museum. "But we make sure that there is no damage to the substance," promised Dietrich. As for the budget item “Youth and Sport”, nothing is planned either. In the medium term, the city will have to tackle the renovation of the Lechsporthalle, "but I don't see any implementation horizon for that yet".

The urgently needed total renovation of the Holy Spirit Church of St. Anna is still a long way off in the area of “non-urban properties”.

For the renovation of the ice stadium - the roof and energy-efficient renovation cost around 1.07 million euros - the city has already received a funding commitment of 960,000 euros, but does not have to rush: The funding will be binding until 2027. What EA Schongau should be less happy about: No amount is planned for changing rooms and technical buildings.

Originally it was thought that the city councils would prioritize during the meeting.

"There are decisions of great importance, and some city councilors are missing, we should take this home with us, but decide promptly", so the suggestion of Kornelia Funke (CSU).

“Is something flying around our ears?”, Parliamentary group colleague Michael Eberle wanted to know whether there were any safety-related deficiencies in buildings.

The traffic safety of the properties must of course be guaranteed and possibly rescheduled at short notice, said Dietrich.

"In middle school there are areas where we need to act."
