So that Schwaigermoos is never forgotten

The memory of the old Oberdingen district of Schwaigermoos is an affair of the heart for the former resident and today's Hallbergmooser Waltraud Franzspeck (67). In 2016, as a co-author, she made sure that a chronicle was created about the location that was relocated because of the airport construction. A beautiful work, but she was not entirely satisfied, something crucial was still missing. So Franzspeck went back to work, and the result was the new chronicle of graves and deaths: a book with 264 pages in which all 42 former families are mentioned. Now was the official handover in the town hall.

Oberding - How did you come to not leave it with the already very successful "old" chronicle? “At funerals you usually take a death sheet with you, and I put it in a collection box,” says the chronicler: “At some point I had many copies of the former residents and in 2017 I began to laminate them and put them in two files to be assigned to the individual families. ”At first she did not think that it could later become a book.

In the following time she and her husband Johann made many Sunday excursions to the graves of the former Schwaigermösler. The trips went from the forest cemetery in Munich to Volkenschwand near Mainburg or Aschau am Inn near Mühldorf. The two also visited cemeteries in the surrounding communities of Eichenried, Hallbergmoos, Langenbach, Freising and Eittingermoos.

It was not always clear exactly where the grave was located: “My husband and I had to look for a long time now and then.

But slowly we got a routine with it. ”The approximate location had previously been researched with the individual families:“ After all, we were everywhere where the Schwaigermösler found a new home and were buried. ”Waltraud Franzspeck always enjoyed the support of the former residents : “They left me with a lot of death pictures and documents, some of them very old.” Time and again, she met with great enthusiasm when she showed the folder with the pictures.

When Franzspeck finally had documents from all the houses in the former district, husband Johann suggested making a book. So his wife went to work, initially thinking of a ring binder for cost reasons. Oberding's Mayor Bernhard Mücke thought of more: "He said to me that it deserved a higher value and should be printed in book form like the old chronicle," the chronicler says happily. In addition, Mücke quickly agreed to take on a portion of the costs.

For the back of the work, the 67-year-old opted for a photo of the cross on Birkenstrasse.

Waltraud Franzspeck has an interesting story ready: “We first took a photo of the very ailing cross without the Jesus figure and then did some research.” The figure was removed and restored by Pastor Huber many years ago.

It has been standing in the parish hall of St. Lantpert's parish in Freising for some time: “So we went there, photographed it and put the two together by means of montage.” Such a picture was created for eternity, because there was no longer an original picture .

The enthusiasm that the chronicle of graves and deaths creates among the former residents was demonstrated, among other things, at a meeting with them: “Everyone was delighted with my collection, and I am very happy that everything is finally ready today. Now everything about the history of Schwaigermoos has been recorded. ”Even if there will of course only be regional interest, Waltraud Franzspeck hopes that her work will be well received. There is a free page for each of the 42 families. "This gives everyone the opportunity to add to their copy in the event of future deaths."

Mücke is grateful that there are now two chronicles about the abandoned district: “This prevents history from being forgotten.

We ensure that they are preserved for future generations. "The mayor thanked Waltraud Franzspeck for her passion and commitment:" That is simply priceless. "Not least for the former residents of Schwaigermoos.
