District - The Upper Bavaria Psychiatry Crisis Service has existed for five years.

There have been many telephone contacts since then.

First aid for the soul is available on 0800/6553000: Since 2016, the Upper Bavaria Psychiatry Crisis Service has had around 130,000 telephone contacts with people in emotional distress.

The mobile teams carried out almost 10,000 house calls and personal consultations.

“These figures show that the help offered by the crisis service is working,” said District Assembly President Josef Mederer on the occasion of the network's five-year existence.

The Upper Bavaria Psychiatry Crisis Service has been set up in stages since 2016 and has been present in all 20 rural districts and the three independent cities since autumn 2017. Since this spring, the Upper Bavarian Crisis Aid has been part of the Bavarian Crisis Services. The control center can be reached around the clock. The outreach crisis teams are on call 24/7.

"Almost 1,000 highly competent specialists are on duty in Upper Bavaria for the crisis service," said Mederer. “People in emotional distress now have their own emergency number.” By calling the control center early on, chronic illnesses could also be avoided. The cooperation with the police and district administrative authorities also helps to de-escalate crisis situations. “This avoids a lot of forced admissions to psychiatry. If people in mental crises can be treated voluntarily, that supports their recovery significantly, ”said the district council president. "That is why it is extremely important to get help at an early stage."

In the crisis service network, the organizations of voluntary welfare work, the clinics of the district of Upper Bavaria (kbo) and other network partners cooperate.

The district of Upper Bavaria has taken over the crisis service into the regular funding.

It finances the outreach help, the counseling appointments in the social psychiatric services and the providers of the evening-weekend-holiday services (AWF) with around 14.3 million euros per year.

The Free State of Bavaria is contributing around 3.1 million euros to the costs of the control center.
