The mother of Jasper Wu, the 23-month-old boy who died from a stray bullet last week in Oakland, California, asks for help in finding those responsible for his death.

"If anyone has any information, please call the authorities," the mother, Cherry An, told NBC Bay Area this week.

"I want everyone's help to find the killer."

An, in his first public comments since the shooting, also thanked the community for support.

Jasper was asleep in his car seat while An was driving when a bullet from a shooting hit the vehicle last Saturday.

The family was on their way from San Francisco to their home in Fremont.

Jasper was taken to Benioff Children's Hospital at the University of California, San Francisco, where he was pronounced dead.

So far there are no suspects, according to police.

An has lived in the United States for 10 years, while Jasper's father, Jihao Wu, works and lives in China.

Wu never met her son, due to the travel ban imposed on more than 30 countries by the United States during the pandemic.

When the country lifted the ban on Monday, Wu flew in from Shanghai.

"He was always willing to help," says the father of a young Latino who died at the Travis Scott concert.

The story has picked up steam on Chinese social media app WeChat, and local Asian community groups in the United States are also asking for donations for the family.

" Shao told The East Bay Times.

"Basically, he didn't know how to react, how to respond to the sudden tragedy."

Carl Chan, president of the Chinatown Chamber of Commerce in Oakland, has called for greater measures to prevent violence after Jasper's death.

"It is not acceptable to see this level of violence, not just in the Asian American community, but throughout Oakland," he previously told The East Bay Times.
