The nomination period for the Legislative Council election ended, and the most competitive seat fell to the functional constituency "medical and health sector." Six people competed for one seat, and the election rate was less than 17%.
There are 55,523 registered voters in this sector, all of whom are individual votes. The voter base is formed by the merger of the medical and health services sectors in the past, and the Chinese medicine sector is newly added.
Under the old system, there were more than 40,000 voters in the health service sector. Since 2004, seats in this sector have been won by Li Guolin, a representative of the Hong Kong Nurses Association and the democratic camp. Therefore, it is crucial for the Nursing Association to take a stand.
After the merger of the sectors, there are two candidates from the National Association of Nursing, namely He Chonghan of the Central Committee, and Liu Zijin, who signed up the day before the end of the nomination period, or there may be a "single vote" situation.
Last night (12th), after the nomination period ended, the Association for the Protection of Nursing issued a statement to clarify that He Chonghan was approved by the Central Executive Committee in a large number of election procedures and was the only candidate supported by the Association for the Protection of Nursing.
If anyone makes a misrepresentation that is different from the position of the association, all legal rights of investigation will be reserved.
When He Chonghan signed up for the election on Wednesday (10th), he was supported by a crowd of people wearing the jackets with the "Nursing Association" logo.
The Nursing Association statement mentioned that there are two Central Committee members elected to the new session of the medical and health sector, hoping to clarify that Liu Zijin participated in the election in his personal capacity and did not seek written support from the Nursing Association in advance; and He Chonghan is the Central Executive Committee of the Economic Nursing Association. The discussion and selection process was supported by a large number of approvals.
The statement pointed out that the National Protection Association chapter has never made any requirements or restrictions on the Central Committee and its members to participate in the election as an individual, but emphasized that He Chonghan is the only candidate supported by the National Protection Association.

Participants in the medical and health sector also include the DAB, Chinese physician Chen Yongguang, pharmacist Pang Ailan, surgeon Lin Zhexuan, and deputy dean of the Hong Kong Academy of Nursing, Chen Zizhong.
