Moscow, SANA- Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova confirmed that Western countries are making up the accusations

Moscow-Sana

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova confirmed that Western countries that fabricate accusations against Russia over the poisoning of Russian dissident Alexei Navalny continue to develop toxic substances in their laboratories.

The Russian TASS news agency quoted Zakharova as saying today, "Germany, France and Sweden still refuse to cooperate with Russia in shedding light on the Navalny file, which was infected with Novichok, as announced by the German government, which has so far refused to provide evidence to support its hypothesis."

Zakharova indicated that the position of Germany, France and Sweden does not answer the main question, which is how, when and under what circumstances the substance known in the West under the name Novichok was detected in Navalny's biological samples.

Zakharova noted that work on Novichok-class materials is still continuing in military chemical laboratories of some NATO member states and the European Union, including France, Germany and Sweden.

The Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman confirmed the absurdity of Western accusations that Russia had hidden its stockpile of the remnants of the Soviet Union’s military-technical program from the eyes of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons and the United Nations, explaining that Russia had finished in September 2017, the destruction of about 40 thousand tons of its toxic combat materials inherited from the Soviet era, under the supervision of strict international.

Zakharova criticized Western countries for ignoring Moscow's calls to strengthen the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) regime, which leads to the transformation of the OPCW from a respected independent technical body into a mechanism that serves the geopolitical interests of a narrow group of countries.

Western countries had claimed that Navalny was poisoned by Russian intelligence without providing any evidence for that, while Russia has repeatedly stressed that Navalny's case is just a pretext for imposing sanctions on it and that it was prepared long ago.
