It was a train driver who sounded the alert when he saw a car on the railway line at Saint-Just-en-Chaussée, in the Oise.

It is an unusual incident which mobilized a lot of human and material resources on Saturday evening shortly after 8 p.m. in Saint-Just-en-Chaussée, in the Oise.

The gendarmes were called because of the dangerous behavior of a motorist, found on the tracks of the line which connects Paris to Amiens.

It was a train conductor who sounded the alert when he saw a car on the rails, on the track opposite to its direction of travel.

Immediately, all traffic was interrupted between Paris and Amiens, the trains being stopped and no more departures are authorized from these two stations.

"The car was immobilized on the tracks, in a place where access to the rails was impossible because the embankments are too steep", indicates the management of the SNCF.

It is therefore elsewhere that the driver, aged about sixty, entered the railway.

According to the first elements collected by the investigators, it is probably through a passage without a gate that the motorist was able to enter the tracks, and travel about 2 km.

Luckily, no one was injured and the disoriented driver was taken into custody.

She will have to try to provide an explanation for her behavior while all the checks, in particular on her blood alcohol level, will be carried out.

Difficult to understand, at first glance, how it can be possible to engage on rails and drive 2 km on sleepers.

"We don't know how this car got there"

This intrusion on the tracks had the consequences of stopping five trains that were already on the route between Paris and Amiens, blocking on board more than 600 passengers for more than three hours.

Traffic was restored at 11:30 p.m., after evacuating the vehicle and after checking the tracks with teams dispatched to the scene.

For passengers whose trains have been delayed by 3 hours, bus or taxi trips, or even hotel nights have been offered.

A whole deployment for which the invoice will be presented to the sixty-year-old whose presence on the tracks is at the origin of the disturbances.

"An assessment of the damages is in progress," specifies the management of the SNCF.

We do not know how this car got there but it is not due to an accident or an accidental fall on the tracks.

A complaint will be filed this Sunday for these facts.
