In the ranks of the Murnau municipal council there is anger that there is still nothing to be seen of a research center in the Kemmelpark.

The investor assures that he wants to pull off the major project as quickly as possible.

There is a double-digit million amount in the room.

Murnau

- Almost five years ago, the Murnau municipal council had to make an important decision. The question was what should happen to the free fillet area in Kemmelpark. There were three options: research center, hotel or residential and commercial solution. In the end, the Neurovision Pharma GmbH research center was awarded the contract. That was at the end of March 2017. But there is still nothing to be seen of such a building. Mounds of earth can be viewed, and cars are also parked there.

There is criticism from the ranks of the local councils.

Veronika Jones (Greens) speaks of "great resentment that nothing is happening".

The Murnau market does not have a lot of commercial space and development potential.

Jones finds: "If there is no serious intention behind it, one should try to get the property back into municipal hands." Her patience is "maxed out".

In retrospect, she asked herself “whether we made the wrong decision”.

Unfulfilled expectations

CSU parliamentary group leader Rudolf Utzschneider is also not satisfied with the current situation. “You have aroused huge expectations. They have not been met. ”Utzschneider criticizes the information policy of the town hall administration. Mayor Rolf Beuting (ÖDP / Bürgerforum) mentioned last year that a round table with several participants in the project had been introduced. Utzschneider: “The municipal council was not informed when it was meeting and what was being discussed. We're poking around in the fog. ”The 150 jobs that Beuting spoke of in 2017 do not yet exist.

The mayor goes to a diving station. He does not want to comment on the current state of affairs, a possible buyback of the area or the round table. "For the successful completion of projects, it is important that the Murnau market is perceived as a reliable and trustworthy partner," he emphasizes. "I am of the opinion that secrecy with regard to confidential discussions with investors is a fundamental building block for this." How others judge this is not in his hand.

At Neurovision, people are more willing to provide information. Professor Ulrich Bogdahn, one of the shareholders and managing directors, emphasizes: “We want to go through with the project. It looks very good, but it is tedious. ”The project is“ demanding ”. Getting medical developments financed is not that easy. Bogdahn, former director of the clinic and polyclinic at the University of Regensburg, estimates the investment at a double-digit million amount. 75 to 150 jobs are to be created in Murnau. Bogdahn outlines the timeline as follows: “Neurovision wants to implement the whole thing as quickly as possible.” The architect's planning is “well advanced”. The Murnau location is “perfect. It couldn't be better. "Bogdahn is also managing director of the bio-tech company Velvio GmbH, a drug developer, who works closely with Neurovision. Both companies are implementing the Murnau project.

Cooperation with accident clinic

Those responsible are aiming for a cooperation with the accident clinic. “Details still have to be clarified,” Bogdahn makes clear. The trauma clinic with the center for spinal cord injuries "continues to be very interested in a research cooperation with Neurovision Pharma GmbH," explains Lisa Schwede, head of the public relations and communication department. "In research collaborations with specific questions about neuroregeneration, we still see great potential for the benefit of our patients - not only for patients with spinal cord injuries, but in general for patients with injuries or diseases of the central nervous system." Neuroregeneration is a generic term for processeswhich lead to the restoration of lost nerve cell functions or the replacement of lost nerve cells.

According to Schwede, the next step would be to jointly design study projects.

"Here we hope for specific questions from Neurovision Pharma GmbH so that we can then design and start joint studies."

The Berufsgenossenschaftliche Unfallklinik not only houses a large center for spinal cord injuries, there is also a high proportion of patients with a so-called “fresh” spinal cord injury.

Therefore, according to Schwede, “the Murnau site would be very useful for a research cooperation in our opinion”.
