You don't go up a mountain with a film team every day and have your hike and overnight stay in a hut filmed.

But that is exactly what the third grade students at Kochler Elementary School recently did.

It will be broadcast on November 14th.

Kochel am See - Georg Bayerle, editor at Bavarian TV, found out by chance about the children's planned excursion to the Herzogstand, which their headmaster Jakob Dondl had planned. Without further ado, Bayerle and a film team joined the young summiteers. They filmed the children on their ascent from the Kesselberg pass up to the Herzogstand houses and on to the summit of the Martinskopf and conducted interviews with the young hikers.

“I think it's courageous and above all very committed how Jakob Dondl goes on a two-day mountain tour with his students, who all have very different requirements,” explains Bayerle, why his editorial staff responsible for Swabia and Old Bavaria found the topic ready for film.

He liked the fact that the hike was as uncomplicated and natural as possible, without losing sight of the serious aspects of mountain walking, said Bayerle.

Children learn about trees and collect rubbish

Between the individual hiking stages, the students studied the trees, collected rubbish, learned about crossroads or meditated - and all of this in front of the camera.

“I was fascinated by the joy and energy with which the children are there, how they pull each other along until everyone is on the summit,” says Bayerle, looking back.

That also infected the film team.

“And for the children, such an excursion is probably one of the best ways to get a special connection to their mountain home and to each other.

A remarkable experience. "

The film about the migration of the Kochler pupils will be shown on Sunday, November 14th at 5.45 pm on Bavarian television in the program “From Swabia and Altbayern”.
