The joy was clouded, however, not only because of Corona, but above all because the Deife founder and long-time chairman Jürgen Häusler died unexpectedly at the end of October after a short, serious illness.
Oberdeife Walter Steinweber and Guggamusi boss Rudi Nagl remembered this in front of around 50 visitors.
Nevertheless, the carnival season in Hemadlenzenstadt started on Thursday at 6:11 p.m. with the opening deife.
"We are all in deep mourning," said Nagl, describing the atmosphere in the club at the meeting on Kirchtorplatz.
Even if on a smaller scale, the Deife wanted Mardi Gras on November 11th this year as well.

"He was a grumpy, sociable and happy person and it would certainly have been in the interests of the deceased to ring in the carnival in Dorfen with the tradition of the opening deife," said Nagl.
It is also "a bit of a farewell and recognition party for Jürgen", who founded the association with his family, built it up and established it in the city.
Steinweber encouraged those present to open the carnival together and so this year they were all opening deifs.

The Oberdeife also announced dates.
The “Narrrennacht” is firmly planned for January 7th.
