The death toll from a fuel truck explosion in Sierra Leone's capital, Freetown, has risen to 144.

Reuters news agency quoted the Ministry of Health as saying that a collision between a fuel tanker and a truck was followed by an explosion in a suburb of the capital, Freetown, about a week ago, killing 144 people, pointing out that among the victims were people who rushed to collect the spilled fuel.

The ministry said that 57 people are still receiving treatment in hospital, including 11 in critical condition.

The previous outcome of the accident indicated the death of eighty people.
