Last year's champion Danil Medvedev (2) opened the final tournament tonight (Sunday) with a victory in three sets, (7) 7: 6 (5), 3: 6, 4: 6 over the Polish Hubert Horkach.
Last year's champion, who won the first Grand Slam title of his career in New York this season, did lose the first set, but managed to recover with a double victory in the two consecutive sets at the end of two hours and three minutes of tennis.
Later in the evening, Alexander Zebrav, ranked third in the world and Olympic champion from Tokyo, will meet Italian Matteo Bartini.
