Two sports bows without arrows, a jackhammer and a huge teddy bear have recently been handed in to the lost and found offices in Würmtal, among other places.

However, some finders also try to find the owner themselves.

Würmtal

- The Würmtaler lost and found offices are still busy: in every lost and found office, which is always located in the town hall in the Würmtal municipalities, a single-digit number of objects is usually handed in every month. Two professional sports bows, a jackhammer and a single ski have recently arrived at the Planegger lost property office - the last one, for example, was found at the Planegger S-Bahn station, where a skier had probably lost it on the way to the mountains. The owner of the bows, for example, has not yet been found.

"Otherwise there were a lot of keys, cell phones, hearing aids, a motorcycle helmet and 250 euros in cash," reports employee Jessica Schirmer. If cash is handed over, the owner must “state exactly where and when he lost the money - and how much and in what denominations,” explains Schirmer. Only then can it be identified that the money really belongs to him or her. Bicycles are often found with a number lock, for which the “picker” must then provide the numerical code. Many of the items are handed in in Planegg on Bahnhofstrasse and are increasingly returned in spring and summer, “when people are out more outside,” says Jessica Schirmer.

For example, a small loudspeaker box, a large stuffed teddy bear, a motorcycle helmet and an MVV annual ticket have recently been handed in to the Neurieder lost property office. The teddy was found at a playground in Neuried, the motorcycle helmet at the A95. “Most of the things we have are keys, cell phones and wallets,” says Indira Abiti, one of the two responsible employees. A good part of the things are found, for example, around the bus stops in the center of the village, reports Abiti. “And sometimes we get strange calls. Some time ago someone shouted that he had found a large scythe. But after that we didn't hear anything about it because they wanted to find the owner themselves, ”says Abiti - which has happened again and again recently. Overall, the citizens of Neuried are apparently very honest. It never actually happens that someone wants to pick up something that does not belong to him or her, reports Abiti.

The Krailling municipality lists all objects found on its website - currently some bicycles, a white mobile phone (found at Sanatoriumswiese), a digital camera (found at Kraillinger Elementary School), a ring (Planegger Bahnhofstrasse) and four red straps (Margaretenstrasse). "After the statutory retention period of six months, we destroy the things if the finder does not want them," explains employee Ingrid Ritter. There are no places or times where particularly much is found in Krailling.

Among other things, a hearing aid, EC cards, jewelry, bicycles and keys of all kinds such as bike, car and apartment keys have arrived at the Graefelfingen lost property office, reports employee Sandra Zwillich.

While in other lost and found offices during the Corona period it was almost normal operation with regard to the amount of items handed in, in Graefelfing “fewer lost items were handed in during the time.

This may be due to the fact that there have been no events for a long time where experience has shown that things like umbrellas and jackets are always forgotten, ”explains Zwillich.
