- Slowly the citizens seem to be willing to vaccinate. Despite some skepticism, the quota in the district is increasing - not least because of the restrictive measures taken by the government. No wonder that the vaccination campaign in the Mittenwald train station on Saturday was also very popular. Already an hour before opening in the station concourse, those who wanted to be vaccinated formed a long queue. Meanwhile, in the improvised vaccination center, Dr. Elizabeth Opitz, Dr. Antonio Preuschke, Dr. Stefan Streng, doctor Sabine Dürr and 13 helpers for the rush.

After the opening at 12 noon, Sissy Burghardt was one of the first.

“I got in line at 11 am,” says the 79-year-old, who has lived in Krün for 16 years.

“I like to travel and am a passionate skier and mountaineer.

That's why I get my third vaccination. ”Sepp Stemmer from Mittenwald wanted that too.

"I need the booster vaccination because I have to go shopping in shops and I also go hiking a lot in the region."

Thomas Staubitzer from Mittenwald, who picked up the third Pikser with his wife, has also made his own thoughts about the corona pandemic. “We spend a lot of private time hiking and skiing in Austria and Italy. I would like to continue to be able to do that without restrictions. ”The 59-year-old retired professional soldier is annoyed by the many unwilling to vaccinate. "I don't understand why I have to accept restrictions because of this, especially since those who have not been vaccinated so far only have advantages and no disadvantages over us."

The Maurenbrecher couple from Wallgau had also waited patiently. “We travel a lot as campers,” says Heribert (70). “We want to protect ourselves and others with this booster vaccination.” He has his own opinion on the general vaccination quota: “If all older people are vaccinated, one could expect the younger ones to be so loyal and also to be vaccinated.” His praise was aimed at the doctors and their medical staff, "who made this uncomplicated appointment possible for us". In a nutshell, his wife Wilma (69) summarized this private vaccination campaign. "What must be must be. Point!"

How many citizens thought of their health and general health in the end is shown by the numbers.

“The whole team vaccinated from 12 noon to 5.45 pm without a break,” says Carola Streng, the administrative specialist responsible for registration and monitoring of the vaccination pass.

“In the end, 450 people were vaccinated.” VON WOLFGANG KUNZ
