Today, in the Al-Waleed neighborhood of Homs, the Childhood Garden, which was rehabilitated by the civil society in cooperation with the Homs City Council, was inaugurated as part of the “Homs, Home of Peace” initiative.
The head of Homs city council, Eng. Abdullah Al-Bawab, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the council provided mechanisms to remove the waste and waste accumulated in the garden and a number of plants for planting within it.
Theatrical director Samer Ibrahim, founder of the “Homs, Dar al-Salam” initiative, indicated that this initiative is a continuation of the “Homs Al-Adiya Gardens” initiative, which was launched in 2018 in coordination with the Homs City Council and in cooperation with the people to participate in planting trees and collecting waste and stones to be invested in forming the garden wall.
He explained that the current phase took two and a half months and included rehabilitating the trees, building a fence for the garden on an area of 8 dunums, installing 30 benches on its edges, restoring the statue in the middle, installing night lights and restoring the murals in it.
Volunteers Mohammed Maalla, Iliad Fglatt and Wadah Dahi drew their participation in drawing an artistic mural using colored ceramic pieces and materials from the environment that extends over the entire area of the garden in vibrant colors.
A number of people expressed their happiness with the rehabilitation of the garden, which turned into a quiet space to meet people and embrace children's activities.
