The volcanic eruption area on La Palma is closed.
But residents are allowed to enter it temporarily.
Obviously, this was fatal for a man.
La Palma - A restricted zone has been set up around the volcano on the island of La Palma.
Lava and poisonous gases have been pouring out of the crater for almost eight weeks.
So far, no one has been killed due to the blocking rule.
However, a body has now been discovered in the area.
According to police, the dead was found on Saturday morning in the El Paso community.
The 70-year-old apparently died when the roof of his house collapsed.
He was probably trying to brush away the volcanic ash.
Relatives reported him missing on Friday.
An autopsy should clarify the cause of death.
Volcano eruption on La Palma: man dies in the exclusion zone
According to media reports, the man had entered the exclusion zone with the approval of the authorities.
Residents of the evacuated houses are regularly allowed to go to the ash-covered area on the Cumbre Vieja mountain range, so that they can get documents or other urgently needed items out of their homes.
This mostly happens under the supervision of the authorities.
Since the volcano, which still has no official name, erupted on the Canary Island in Spain, the lava, which can be up to 1,300 degrees Celsius, has completely destroyed more than 1,450 buildings.
A total of 1018 hectares were last covered by a meter-thick layer of lava.
This area corresponds to more than 1400 soccer fields.
More than 7,000 residents have had to be brought to safety since the volcano erupted.
For many days, however, the lava flows have only been moving very slowly or not at all.
