Emergency services in Western Australia warned today of the outbreak of bushfires, after a fire out of control threatens homes and lives east of Perth, the state capital.
"If the road is open, you should leave now for a safer place... Don't wait to see developments, a last minute departure would be fatal," the emergency services agency told residents in Moken and around Northampshire, 71 kilometers east of Perth. .
Bushfires are an essential part of Australia's environment where high temperatures, dry conditions and the flammable nature of many native plants cause fires.
In the summer of 2019-2020, Australia witnessed an unprecedented season of fires that burned in more than 17 million hectares, according to government data.
