The current corona situation is forcing the city of Moosburg to cancel the Christmas market.

One would like to hold on to the performances of the Christ Child.

Moosburg

- For Moosburg's mayor Josef Dollinger "due to the current pandemic development, it is no longer responsible to organize our Christmas market with a clear conscience". That is why it was officially canceled on Monday afternoon. "This decision was not an easy one for me, but I think that for the safety of our citizens it is necessary to act now and that this is also understood."

Dollinger knows: “The situation has come to a dramatic level in the past week: In addition to the insanely high incidences, our Freising Hospital is also in the situation of being unable to admit intensive care patients.

At the weekend a patient had to be moved to Bozen because there was no more space available in Freising.

We can only hope that no further patients with life-threatening illnesses or accident victims need an intensive care place. "

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.

The cancellation of the Christkindlmarkt, which will take place on 4th / 5th and 11./12. December should have taken place at the Zehentstadel, also has an impact on the "Moosburger Advent": The Moosburger Christkind, which was presented a few days ago, will have a few fewer dates. But one at Moosburg Marketing eG is hoping that it will be able to hold on to the planned Advent events. Winona Penker, who embodies the Christ Child this year, will open the Moosburger Advent on November 27th. In addition, the “Christmas makers” around Erni Pichler hope that the planned campaigns and events can also be carried out - with distance, mask and in compliance with all specifications.

For example, an extraordinary event is planned for December 18th: In keeping with the motto “Christmas in the old days”, the city center is to be set back to around 1850.

"Visitors can expect a colorful hustle and bustle with music groups, market stalls and actors dressed in contemporary clothing," says Moosburg Marketing eG.

Even if the corona situation continues to worsen, Moosburg Marketing eG would like to stick to Moosburg Advent and the events.

"We want to do that with pleasure and thereby ensure a bit of normality," said marketing project manager Ann-Kathrin Maier when asked by FT.

Whether the events can actually take place in this way depends on the then valid Corona rules and requirements.
