The corona situation is coming to a head - also in Peißenberg.

First the high number of cases relating to the ice rink and then, following the most recent market council meeting, a senior town hall employee tested positive.

The tricky thing about the matter: The employee sat in the meeting with typical symptoms.

Peißenberg

- The market council has held its meetings in the Tiefstollenhalle since the beginning of the pandemic. The committee has meanwhile got used to the location as well as to the hygiene rules. In the Tiefstollenhalle, a mask is required, among other things. And in this regard, a small detail was noticed at the recent Council meeting. Mayor Frank Zellner moderated the meeting via microphone without a mask - as usual. But next to him sat two senior town hall employees wearing masks - although they can actually be removed at the square. Why did the two town hall employees wear their masks on the square?

With the item on the agenda about the possible hiring of an air conditioning manager, the matter was clear.

The town hall employee sitting right next to Zellner presented the facts - in a clearly depressed voice.

Three days later, the community councils were finally informed that the meeting was attended by a person who later tested positive.

It was initially unclear who it was.

In another email, the town hall administration finally also gave the name of the employee.

Rapid test negative on the day of the session and on the following day

The fact is: The employee sat in the meeting with clear symptoms. That naturally raises questions. Was the town hall administration acting negligently? In an interview with the local newspaper, Frank Zellner explains that the double-vaccinated employee had to undergo a quick test every day - including on the day of the meeting on October 27th. But was it wise to let him attend the meeting anyway? According to reports, there should have been corona diseases in the family environment of the employee relatively simultaneously. In addition, rapid tests are known to have a high error rate. “From my point of view, we did everything that was opportune. He felt good and was at peace with himself, ”reports Zellner.

The day after the session, however, the rapid test showed negative results.

The corona infection was confirmed by a PCR test.

Zellner found out about it on Friday morning.

Why did he only inform the local council on Saturday?

Zellner refers to the health department, which took over the case: “I didn't want to make the horses shy and not anticipate the office.

We thought that everything was going the right way. "

Mayor: "More in Corona mode again"

From a purely technical point of view, the administration cannot be blamed for anything. The fact that Zellner did not inform the meeting attendees and the press present is also covered by the new provisions. After a cabinet decision by the state government, contact details no longer had to be collected during the meeting. The health department is now limiting its tracking of contact persons to the household of the person concerned. Town hall chief Zellner emphasizes that the right lessons will be learned from the case: "After the development of the past week and a half, everyone is back in corona mode." The awareness that vaccinations are no guarantee of non-infection has now been sharpened. But couldn't one have had this knowledge beforehand? "Knowledge is one thing, but experiencing it in the direct environmentsomething else again, ”says Zellner.

As things stand at present, no one was infected at the council meeting.

According to the mayor, however, additional protective measures will be taken.

Among other things, FFP2 masks and quick tests will be distributed to every council member in the run-up to the next meeting.

A CO? Measuring device will also be set up in the deep tunnel hall and the ventilation intervals strictly adhered to.

And how is the infected employee?

“He is on the mend,” says Frank Zellner.

Cold symptoms are not uncommon at this time of year

The fact that a town hall employee with symptoms sat in the most recent market council meeting has reportedly caused displeasure and head shaking among one or the other committee member. Not so with Sandra Rößle (CSU / non-party). The former vice town hall chief was the councilor who sat closest to the infected employee at the meeting. “I thought it was super fair that he wore a mask,” Rößle explains when asked by the local newspaper.

Cold symptoms are not uncommon at this time of year.

In addition, they kept their distance.

There would be no absolute security in pandemic times - unless lockdowns are imposed again.

But nobody would want that either: "We will have to come to terms with Corona," says Rößle.

As soon as the employee became aware of the corona infection, she tested herself - with a negative result: "I didn't feel unsafe," said Rößle.
