Some 75 paintings and a hundred drawings and engravings: in Basel, the Fondation Beyeler used all its power and Swiss interpersonal skills, notably lending to Madrid many of its Picasso, Giacometti and other Bacons to, in return, make this exhibition a success. Goya, dreamed of by its late founder, the great gallery owner Ernst Beyeler.
A vast course, inaugurated by Letizia, Queen of Spain, with silver walls when the weather is nice but of a cold gray when the overhead light is lacking, also embraces the two creative sides of genius.
This is thanks to an exceptional cooperation with the Prado,
"established thirteen years ago",
recalls the chief commissioner, Martin Schwander.
And also, in addition to other leading European and American museums, thanks to Swiss collectors, such as the Bernese art dealer Eberhard W. Kornfeld.
Their collection is rich in drawings, trial proofs and first prints in the graphic arts.
And they even keep some oils
