Long wish list of the ministries
The draft for the budget so far provides that the government does not take on any new debts in the coming year and wants to repay 474 million euros of the corona loans.
In addition, Grün-Schwarz wants to invest around 915 million euros and set aside a good 500 million euros as a cushion for the further course of the pandemic.
The ministries' wish list for further expenditure is long, as numerous projects were rejected in the first round due to a lack of funds.
For example, Minister of Education Theresa Schopper (Greens) urges further funds.
New corona worries dampen joy
According to information from the dpa, it is becoming apparent that the coalition intends to use the additional income in roughly equal proportions for investments, debt repayment and provisions for the further course of the worsening pandemic.
Green parliamentary group leader Andreas Schwarz told the dpa on request: "We will deal with the tax plus sparingly and purposefully: We are investing in areas that generate the tax money of tomorrow, in consistent climate protection and good education." Schwarz also announced: "We create a financial cushion to prepare us for future crises.
And we are making a noticeable contribution to reducing the debt burden. "
CDU speaks of "a little more maneuvering space"
His CDU colleague Manuel Hagel told the dpa: "The current tax estimate is really good news for our budget and gives us a little more room to maneuver in challenging times." The corona aid would have helped the companies.
"Now it is important to stay reliable and stay on course." The CDU will advocate the following priorities: "Debt repayment, strengthening reserves, priority for innovation and preparedness for the pandemic."
