Caen: a magnitude 2.5 earthquake felt

The city of Caen and its surroundings suffered an earthquake on Monday, November 15 around 6 a.m. No major degradation has been identified.


An earthquake was felt this morning in Caen and its surroundings.

According to initial data from the National Seismic Surveillance Network (RéNaSS), it is a magnitude 2.5 earthquake that struck 5 km deep at the epicenter at exactly 6:03 a.m.

The department of Calvados, classified in a “

low and very low

seismic zone

, has already experienced several similar events in the past.

The last quake felt in this area dates from March 2020 with a magnitude 2.7 earthquake.
