In Hallbergmoos there is now, in addition to Mayor Josef Niedermair, a second man who is preparing to become town hall chief: Benjamin Henn.

Hallbergmoos

- The community's sports park and event manager does not want to dispute the position of his boss Josef: The 34-year-old is running in Osterburken (Baden-Württemberg).

And he is not the first employee of the community who wants to be the "number one" in another town hall.

As a non-party, Henn competes against the incumbent

As he has now also confirmed to the FT, Henn will stand there on December 5th in the mayoral election as a non-party against incumbent Jürgen Galm (60), who has been the town hall chief of the Roman city since 2006.

"I've wanted to make a difference and shape something for a long time - and now is the right opportunity," he said when asked.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

Osterburken is a 6500-inhabitant town in the Neckar-Odenwald district.

The reference of the sports park manager?

Henn comes from the neighboring Schefflenz.

He studied in Karlsruhe, where he completed his bachelor's degree in trade fair, congress and event management.

Henn has been employed by the Hallbergmoos community since 2013.

Meanwhile, he was doing his master's degree in public management.

Backing from the Hallbergmoos town hall

In the Hallbergmoos town hall, Benjamin Henn is the department head for the areas of culture, leisure, sport and clubs - and responsible for the organization and implementation of many events such as the sports park anniversary recently.

And there - in the event of an election defeat - he could continue to do his previous job: "I have informed all offices and the mayor has backed him," said the 34-year-old.

"And yes - I can come back again."

Good to know

Incidentally, Benjamin Henn is not the first employee in the community to apply for the chief post in a town hall.

In 2002 the former Hallbergmoos treasurer Alois Brandl became mayor of Herrieden (near Ansbach).

He is now a member of the CSU state parliament.
