The stepfather was sentenced to life imprisonment in October 2020 for "murder" of a minor, "torture or barbaric act on a minor by a person having authority over him", "recurrence of habitual violence" and "outburst of violence".

The mother of the little boy, Angelina Seine, had been sentenced to 30 years in prison, indicates the regional daily.
She was accused of "complicity in torture or an act of barbarism on a minor by an ascendant", "non-denunciation of ill-treatment", "deprivation", "assault or sexual abuse", "non-denunciation of a crime", "no -assistance to person in danger ”and“ usual violence on a minor ”.

A few months before his death, Kenzo had been the subject of numerous violence.

In January 2017, a month before the tragedy, Kenzo was brought by his mother to the emergency room, after being burned to the third degree in the left thumb with a lighter.

During the trial in October 2020, the couple kept accusing each other of being at the origin of the violence.
Teddy Maton, described by the personality survey as "
alcoholic and violent
", has always denied the facts of which he is accused.
