2021-11-15T18:39:44.330Z

TEST - Elegant lines, unprecedented electrified technology and record roominess: this compact SUV, from a lineage that cleared the urban SUV in the last century, is boosting its repertoire.

Carbon neutral in 2050 for all of its activities and no more deaths in a collision while driving or riding a vehicle of its brand: Honda wants to become an irreproachable company.

In terms of ecology, the Japanese firm has launched a vast program of electrification of its range.

Next year, all models sold on the European market will be electrified.

  • What responsibility at the wheel of an “autonomous car”?

On our roads in a few weeks, the HR-V SUV is the third element of this completely redesigned range.

It bears witness to the designers' newfound inspiration with its elongated hood, reduced overhang, steeply sloped rear hatch and rear door handles concealed in the pillars.

These style traits are combined with sober lines.

A more powerful battery

Sobriety, it is also a question under the hood. The HR-V is the hybrid technology series of the Jazz. It is distinguished by a 4-cylinder 1.5 liter which delivers 10 more hp (107 hp) and a more powerful battery that powers two electric machines (an engine and a generator). This system, which dispenses with a gearbox, is based on three operating modes: electric up to about 40 km / h in town, hybrid where the thermal block drives the generator to produce electricity, and thermal at high speed where the sound of the 4 cylinders becomes intrusive. Thanks in particular to a controlled weight, Honda ensures that its solution is much superior to that of a plug-in hybrid powertrain.Provided, however, not to abuse the long motorway routes where consumption can climb to more than 7 l / 100 km.

The HR-V is also well thought out ergonomics, the latest in driving assistance and ingenious modularity borrowed from the Jazz.

The seats of the magic bench can be raised vertically and clip to the backrests to transport tall objects, plant or bicycle.

This compensates for an average trunk volume.

Still, this SUV charges dearly for its services and equipment.
