A specially founded association is supposed to manage it itself.

Vaterstetten - “We would not have made it without you!” Mayor Leonhard Spitzauer owed the thanks of the young people at the opening of the new youth center. He had campaigned for a permanent meeting place for the young people. When looking for suitable premises, they finally found what they were looking for in the former, vacant middle school on Johann-Strauss-Straße. The former auditorium, secretariat and teachers' room on the ground floor were converted into youth rooms with comparatively little effort. During the renovation work, the young people lend a hand and did a lot of the work on their own. They were supported by a building yard employee who guided them on a voluntary basis. The result is such friendly rooms, in which you can find plenty of seating and a small drinks bar. There is also a foosball table, another game table and - somewhat strange - an old exercise bike. The official opening is scheduled for November 15th. Further information can be found at JUZ BaVa on Facebook and Instagram. The deputy chairman Jonas Reibetanz is currently holding back a little with official opening times. "That should work itself out slowly."

Ultimately, the opening is thanks to the perseverance of the young people, says Spitzauer.

They would not only have demanded, but would have shown a lot of commitment.

This also includes the establishment of its own association called “JUZ BaVa”, which will in future manage the meeting place with the support of the community.

The mayor emphasizes that the town hall has agreed "rules of the game".

Among other things, the chairman must be over 18 years old and the board members must have completed youth leader training.

"The key to success is youth self-management," believes Spitzauer.

"More attention is then paid to it and more responsibility is shown."

In addition, the youth carers of the community keep an eye on it.

You have set up a branch in the old directorate.

Because the “Jugendraum Vaterstetten”, which is open in the afternoons for younger children, has also moved from Carl-Orff-Straße to the new JUZ.

The JUZ temporary solution is expected to remain in the old school for the next four years.

It is planned that with the completion of the new construction area Vaterstetten-Nordwest, today's OHA will move from Hans-Luft-Weg to new rooms on the future quarter square.

Then the young people move into the building at the sports center.

"The former JUZ can then become JUZ again," says Spitzauer.
