Singer Lior Narkis fights for his innocence, and this morning through a new defense team will file an appeal to the Jerusalem Supreme Court, demanding that he overturn a ruling that he must pay NIS 2.3 million in compensation to a person who took the stage to serve him whiskey during a wedding performance, fell and became disabled.
This is a wedding that took place at the "Avenue" ballroom in 2013. Narcissus took the stage near midnight, and according to the plaintiff, the singer signaled to him with his hand that he was interested in a drink.
When he got on stage, his leg became entangled in the amplification equipment that was lying on the floor and he fell and was seriously injured so that he became a wheelchair-bound.
The verdict handed down two weeks ago in the Central District Court ruled that Narcissus also had responsibility for the same incident, although he said he did not intend the prosecutor to take the stage at all.
The ruling stipulated that Narkis must pay 25 percent of the total compensation awarded to the defendant together with the legal expenses, which reached an unprecedented amount of NIS 2.3 million.
Following the harsh ruling, Narkis replaced the legal defense team that represented him, and will file an appeal this morning through Adv. Amikam Harlaf of Harlaf & Co., who specializes in insurance and tort law.

According to Adv. Harlap, "the determination that the singer is responsible for the injury of a celebrant at a wedding has no basis."
"The appeal presents several material issues for the reversal of the ruling, the dramatic one of which includes documents and testimonies from medical sources proving that the plaintiff fell not due to stage defects but mainly due to his drunkenness.
Lior Narkis responded: "First of all, I wish the plaintiff health. What was stated in the verdict does not reflect reality. I am convinced that things will now be clarified on appeal."
