"We have no lessons to take from the British".

This is how Gerald and Darmanin spoke on Monday about the management by France of migrants who want to join the United Kingdom.

The Home Secretary is due to receive his British counterpart, Priti Patel, at 7 p.m.

They "must stop mistaking us for domestic political punching bags," he added on CNews.

"We are neither their collaborators, nor their auxiliaries," he added.

Gérald Darmanin argued that the situation in Calais (Pas-de-Calais), where migrants are massed in the hope of reaching the United Kingdom, is the fact of the government of Boris Johnson.

“I will remind my British counterpart,” he said, “that the non-governmental organizations that prevent the police and gendarmerie from working are largely British NGOs with British citizens who are on French soil and do agit-prop ”, that is to say, spectacular operations that attract media attention.

He argued, moreover, that "the smugglers, who organize networks and exploit women and children (...) are very often in Great Britain".

Finally Gérald Darmanin criticized the "labor market which, in Great Britain, functions largely thanks to a reserve army, as Karl Marx would say, irregular people who can work at low cost".

"If the British changed their legislation very strongly (they did it, but not enough) people would no longer be in Calais or Dunkirk", in the Nord department, he stressed.

“We are the ones who suffer from British politics.

We must not reverse the roles, ”said the Minister of the Interior.

Tension increased between London and Paris, the British and French capitals, on Friday after the number of illegal Channel crossings hit a record high the day before, with a total of 1,185 migrants having made it to British soil.
