Thuringia's Minister of Economic Affairs, Wolfgang Tiefensee (SPD), believes that the introduction of a 2G obligation is also necessary at events and trade fairs. "A lack of PCR test capacities in the country and the high costs to be borne by guests would currently make a 3G pulse control for events and trade fairs ineffective - this is reflected in the experience reports of the last few weeks," said Tiefensee of the German press agency am Monday.

Thuringia's Minister of Economic Affairs, Wolfgang Tiefensee (SPD), believes that the introduction of a 2G obligation is also necessary at events and trade fairs.

"A lack of PCR test capacities in the country and the high costs to be borne by guests would currently make a 3G pulse regulation for events and trade fairs ineffective - this is reflected in the experience reports of the last few weeks," said Tiefensee of the German press agency am Monday.

Erfurt - The 66-year-old is changing course.

About two months ago, when he presented the 2G / 3G Plus option model, Tiefensee emphasized that the rules in autumn and winter should apply regardless of the warning level.

This should give organizers planning security - for example with a view to Easter.

In the meantime, the corona situation in Thuringia is considered threatening and the health system is already heavily burdened.

"Due to the increased incidence situation in the country and the recommendations of the Scientific Advisory Board, the now nationwide application of a 2G regulation is also considered necessary in the Ministry of Economics," said Tiefensee on Monday.

He welcomed the fact that the planned new regulation now provides for uniform rules across the country.

Further increase in the number of corona infections

The corona pandemic is having a stronger impact again in Thuringia.

In the meantime, one of the three warning levels applies in eight districts and urban districts, which are accompanied by stricter rules, as emerged from a status report by the Thuringian State Chancellery on Wednesday.

Accordingly, the seven-day incidence nationwide rose as of Wednesday to 79.1 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days.

Stricter compulsory tests for unvaccinated people in the Saale-Orla district

In the Saale-Orla district, people not vaccinated against Covid-19 will only have access to hotels, certain leisure activities and public events from next week on presentation of a negative Corona test result.

In view of the worsening pandemic situation, a new general decree will apply in the southeast Thuringian district from Monday (October 11), which regulates this, as the district office announced on Wednesday.

The cabinet wants to discuss the expansion of a nationwide 2G rule in certain areas on Tuesday.

So far, it is planned that, among other things, only those who have recovered or have been vaccinated will have access to restaurants, hotels and leisure activities.

It is possible that 2G will now also be introduced for events and trade fairs.

A decision is expected on Tuesday.

Tiefensee welcomed the fact that the plans do not provide for a 2G regulation in retail.

He also thinks it is right that unvaccinated employees can continue to work in 2G access models if they submit a negative test.

"This opening is necessary in order to maintain business operations in many companies," emphasized the minister.
