Today, the People’s Assembly Budget and Accounts Committee discussed the investment budget of the Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection and its affiliates for 2022, amounting to 15 billion and 700 million Syrian pounds.

The head of the committee, Dr. Muhammad Rabei Qala Ji and its members, questioned the reasons for the low rates in implementing the ministry’s investment plan, especially in the networking and work automation project, and about the role of the General Authority for Competition and Anti-monopoly, demanding that the results of the ministry’s work be tangible on the ground.

The members demanded the establishment of more bakeries, the improvement of the condition of the loaf of bread, a solution to reduce overcrowding on the bakeries, maintenance of grain silos, control of high prices in the markets, combating corruption and defects within the ministry and its affiliated bodies, wondering why the storage and cooling process for vegetables and fruits was stopped.

A number of members suggested studying the possibility of buying olive oil directly from farmers and selling it to citizens to prevent traders from manipulating prices, distributing gas cylinders according to the number of family members, and allowing citizens to purchase diesel oil outside the card, similar to the mechanisms and maintenance of warehouses affiliated with Omran Corporation.

In response to the members’ questions between the Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, Dr. Amr Salem, that the implementation rates will rise in the coming period, and that there are studied solutions to address the imbalance within the ministry, referring to a plan to give the owners of private ovens advantages that contribute to improving the quality of the loaf of bread without that being reflected on the price. to the consumer.

The Minister of Internal Trade indicated that it is not possible at the present time to establish new bakeries, which prompted the ministry to go to the maintenance and rehabilitation of bakeries, pointing out that work is underway to sell bread in 31 halls under good conditions in Damascus and to generalize the experience to the rest of the provinces if successful, and that there is a new system to automate the work Bakeries and mills, and a study of a new incentive system for workers affiliated with the Ministry's institutions.

Minister Salem revealed that additional quantities of domestic gas will be secured, which will positively affect reducing the waiting period for citizens, and that at the beginning of next year, individuals residing away from their families will be given individual cards through which they will receive their allowances from subsidized materials, in addition to granting cards to non-Syrian families residing inside Syria. .
