A number of Christmas markets have already fallen victim to the pandemic this year.
Now the next municipality is reacting and rejecting the pre-Christmas hustle and bustle.
Garching
- The city of Garching has reacted to the current Corona situation and canceled the traditional Christmas market and the craft market - "with a heavy heart", as the town hall announced.
The decision was not an easy one, as the cultural department had examined various security concepts and developed distance concepts.
In the end, however, health considerations in particular moved the city to make the decision to cancel.
“I'm sorry for those who get involved here every year and wanted to get involved again this year,” regrets Mayor Dietmar Gruchmann in a press release.
"But you have to consider that the sales staff in particular - sometimes four people in a small booth steaming with mulled wine - would have exposed themselves to high health risks." The town hall chief sees the decision as an appeal to the citizens: "It means everything that is possible for us , Show responsibility.
Unfortunately, it also hits such beautiful things. "
