Opinion | The Importance of Egyptian Responsibility Israel today

2021-11-15T22:33:06.461Z

Egypt's responsible policy suffers not only from the radical onslaught, but also from the short-sightedness of the Americans (and Europeans), who turn cold-shouldered non-Sissis on the grounds that it is a military regime.

Recently, Israel again agreed to reinforce Egyptian forces in Sinai, despite restrictions on the peace treaty.

Sources in the media were quoted as saying that the size of the forces in northern Sinai was similar to that which existed before the Yom Kippur War.

The agreement reflects Israel's high level of trust in Egypt under President al-Sisi, and again highlights its critical and ongoing contribution to relative stability in the Middle East.

Egypt stands by this in the last generation, despite the venomous criticism of irresponsible regional elements, and despite the lack of appreciation for its contribution to Washington.

In the 1950s and 1960s, Nasser's radical pan-Arab leadership stirred up the Arab space between the Atlantic and the Persian Gulf.

Inspired by it, militant regimes arose in the region, which also forced responsible leaders to give their hand to adventurous policies.

Egypt - the most important, largest and most stable Arab state - has led a defiant line with the United States and an ongoing confrontation with Israel. Sadat has come to understand that this policy is wreaking havoc on his country and dragging the region to the brink of an abyss.

Through a series of brilliant and courageous decisions in the 1970s, Sadat brought Egypt out of the barren friction with the United States and the violent confrontation with Israel. The situation has not deteriorated in the last decade, with the situation in the region difficult, and in some of its important areas severe violence and deep distress prevailing, but without Egypt's responsibility and restraint, the entire Middle East would have been in utter chaos.

For more than 40 years, this policy has been the subject of a concentrated attack by radicals in the Arab world. The regimes that wreaked havoc on their people through their promiscuous behavior — Gaddafi, the Assad dynasty, Saddam Hussein, Arafat, and others — presented Egyptian responsibility and impressive achievements as a surrender to the United States and Israel. "And a futile war with Israel - the great hallucinations, hollow pretensions and violent predation of the radicals led to the destruction of Iraq, Syria, Libya, Yemen and the Palestinians, in civil wars, anarchy and painful and humiliating defeats. Those who brought destruction upon their people claimed the crown of patriotism, and those who spared their sons and daughters the horror were denounced as traitors. Educated circles in Arab public opinion, even in Egypt itself, have been tempted by radical arguments and deny their devastating results. Much of this distortion is expressed in the most dangerous movement for the Arabs and their future: the "Muslim Brotherhood."The danger of the movement focuses on combining its dark perception, which stumbles with the challenges of the 21st century, with its ability to pretend moderation and constructiveness and to persuade naive Americans, Europeans and Israelis to help it establish itself in power.

Egypt's responsible policy suffers not only from the radical attack, but also from the short-sightedness of the Americans (and Europeans). These turn a cold shoulder, claiming that it is a military regime that suffers from the protection of human rights. They deny in their shallow purity the fact that the only realistic alternative in Cairo is the "brothers", who will drown Egypt in hopeless repression and backwardness, and push other countries in the region (especially Jordan) to anti-American radicalization, and the Middle East to regional war. When Condoleezza Rice pressured Israel to allow the Palestinian branch of the Brotherhood to run in the 2006 elections, Hamas took control of Gaza. Today, only the presence of the IDF prevents his takeover of the West Bank as well. Obama abandoned Mubarak and allowed a "democratic" takeover of the "brothers" in Cairo. His enthusiasm for "moderation" Erdogan eased his autocratic takeover of Turkey. In 2013, al-Sisi saved not only Egypt, Jordan and Israel,But also the United States.

Egypt - nicknamed "Umm al-Dunya" (Mother of the World) due to its cultural and historical weight - is the only anchor for relative stability in a divided and explosive region.

Desperate help deserves.

Or at least not disturb him.
